Bellwood Antis Rails to Trails cordially invites you to the Grand Opening & Ribbon Cutting of the Bell's Gap Rail Trail on Sunday, July 8 @ 5 pm at the Roots Crossing Trailhead, Bellwood, PA. Refreshments will be served. Please bring your own lawn chair. Plan to take a walk on the new trail after the festivities.
DIRECTIONS TO TRAILHEAD: From I-99, take the Bellwood Exit #41. That will put you on PA-865 N. Continue on 865 for 2.7 miles to Igou Road. Bear right on Igou Road and continue 0.1 mile. Turn left into trailhead parking lot.
After many years of hard work and dedication, Hazel Bilka and the Bellwood Antis Community Trust is seeing their hard work pay off. In March 2007, the Bellwood Community Trust awarded a contract to Cottle’s Asphalt Maintenance, Inc., of Everett, to construct the Bells Gap Railroad Trail project. Construction began in early April.
Barring any unforeseen delays, the trail will be completed approximately . . . . . . . .
June 29th 2007. This is great news for the town of Bellwood, and for all of Central Pennsylvania.
This trail will begin in Bellwood. From the crossover bridge and Community Park, up Blair Street and to Roots Crossing will be designated a “Road Share”. The road will be painted to alert motorists that they are sharing the road with bicyclists and signs will be placed along the roads. Cottle’s Asphalt is constructing the hiking, biking, running, horseback riding trail from Roots Crossing to the State Game Lands No. 158 west of the Bellwood Reservoir.
